Tuesday is always the day that I work on my design team cards for the weekly challenges. I started with this week’s layout for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.
I’m not gonna lie…it has a crazy number of wonky layers.
I’ve been on this design team for a little over a year and I have really been enjoying the sketches Michelle and Brandi create for us.
Even though I love crazy wonky layers on my scrapbook pages, I’m not a huge fan of them on my cards. I always feel like the cards just come out to busy.
I decided to just go for busy this time. I have 4 patterns on this card, some ribbon, bubble embellishments, a focal image with some sparkle and a layered sentiment.
It looks crazy busy to me, but I had fun making it!
I kept the colors to just black and white to keep it less busy than it might have been with rainbow colors.
I used a fabulous Concord & 9th background stamp called Brush Striped Background Stamp Set. I used Catherine Poolers Midnight Black ink for this. It is stamped on a piece of Neenah Solar White 110 lb paper cut at 4 x 5-1/4. I attached it to a black card base cut at 4-1/4 x 11″, scored at 5-1/2″.
On top of that I have a 2-1/2 x 3-3/4″ that I used the Altenew Cross Stitch Canvas Die to create a subtle dot pattern. I added some Altenew dotty washi tape on top with one of the scraps from the die cut piece and it is cut at 1 x 3-1/2″.
On top of that I have some black and white striped patterned paper from MFT Stamps. This is cut 1-1/2 x 2-3/4″.
My sentiment and focal butterfly image came from Catherine Poolers Faithful Flutterings stamp set. I used her Twighlight, Black Jack, and Midnight inks to stamp the butterfly and added some silver dots from my sparkle Gelly Roll gel pen. The white piece for the sentiment was a scrap as was the black piece layered under it. I also added a pop of color just for fun using some red ribbon that I got from an Ellen Hutson order.
Then I pulled up the sketch challenge for the Paper Craft Crew.
Close enough!
Maybe tomorrow I will use this sketch to try the rainbow version!
