Guest Designing At HedgeHog Hollow

By | 10/14/2018

I’m excited to be joining The Hedgehog Hollow as their Guest Designer today to share a few of the creations I’ve been working on using the special 2018 Holiday Edition Card Kit from The Hedgehog Hollow.

This card kit is packed with amazing products.  I love these card kits because I always get to try products that I have not tried before.  I’ve been truly enjoying The Hedgehog Hollow kits because every kit seems to include some interesting new product.  This holiday kit is no exception.

I created 4 cards using different parts of the kit for each.  I created a video for each card, but the one I am sharing here today will show you how to use that fabulous Elizabeth Crafts Microfine Glitter.

For this card, I used the Elizabeth Craft Designs Silk Microfine Glitter in Antique Silver with double sided adhesive tape along with  Nuvo French Rose Embellishment Mousse. The sentiment from the Oh Christmas Tree stamp set in the kit is heat embossed in Antique Gold embossing powder from Altenew.  I have also used some of Altenew’s Specialty Gold Mirror card stock that I dearly love.  You will find the video at the end of this post!Stamping Imperfection Burnished Glitter

For my second card, I used the Eskimo Kisses from Sunny Studio Stamps.  I created a snowfall night sky and some snow banks as a backdrop for these cute little Eskimo children. I added the coordinating die cut to my collection as soon as it went on sale at Sunny Studio stamps.

I spent a whole day creating different snowy backgrounds with a variety of techniques.  I have a video to share with you on another day this week showing those techniques.

My third card used Distress Crayons to create a quick and easy watercolor background.  I heat embossed 3 of the trees from the Oh Christmas Tree stamp set in Antique Gold on to vellum and popped them up on a piece of gold mirror specialty paper.  Stamping Imperfection Burnished Glitter Technique

My final card was a fun experiment.  I love Gnomes and the Gnome Tree Decorating stamp has so many possibilities.  Since I had used alcohol markers for the little Eskimo children, I decided to try watercoloring using Catherine Pooler Design inks.  I love these inks for blending and watercoloring.  I added a burnished glitter strip using the technique from the first card, which you will find in the video below.  I also used a piece of the fabulous LDRS Creative 6 x 6″ patterned paper stack that came in the kit.  It was actually hard to select which piece to use for this card!  Stamping Imperfection Burnished Glitter Technique

I added a lot of Nuvo Crystal Drops to this card.  This is one of the products that I had not tried before subscribing to The Hedgehog Hollow card kits.  While I still need practice getting perfect dots, I like the extra detail that they add to a card.  This is one product that requires practice using.  I’m thinking that I will sacrifice a bottle of this fun product and spend an afternoon perfecting my technique.
