Since the day the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder arrived, I’ve been using it on every card I make!! I just love the texture that it gives a card. I think it lends a certain elegance as well. Needless to say, when I needed a sympathy card for a colleague, I just had to use it. Of course I did not have a set of sympathy cards made ahead of time, so I had to come up with something fast. The Big Shot provides such a great tool to add beautiful touches to our cards very quickly. I’ve also been looking for a card to make with the medallion-like flower in the Mixed Bunch set. I couldn’t resist the opportunity to combine that with that gorgeous embossing folder!
Tips for making a quick and simple card:
- Keep the color pallete simple. Notice I stuck with two colors here. It’s elegant and harder to make a mistake that way!
- Use your tools! That Big Shot is our most amazing tool whether we use the embossing folders, the die cuts or the framelits and edgelits. They add a fast, yet stunning touch.
- Layers and textures make a simple card a “Wow!” card. It looks like you spent a lot of time making that card, but it took less than 15 minutes. In fact, I made 4 of them in 15 minutes! I was cutting and designing anyway, why not make a couple extra cards for my stash box?
Stamp Sets: Mixed Bunch, a sympathy sentiment of your choice (that was the only one I had!). Paper: Black and white cardstock. Ink: Basic Black Accessories: Big Shot, Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, black ribbon, and Stamping Dimensionals.
