Let Your Designer Series Paper Do All the Work! (Free One Sheet Wonder Printable!)

I am in the midst of tidying up my craft cabinet and cleaning out the drawers.  In the process, I always seem to find things I’ve forgotten about, and I always seem to find stuff that has been sitting on the shelf for a couple of years.

That always makes me feel a little guilty.  I decided that I need to do some projects to use up my Designer Series Paper.  I also have a small pile of paper that I will be donating hoping to find it a home where it will get used.  Much of that paper is 6 x 6″ paper that came in card kits I bought over the last 5 years.  I enjoy card kits, but nobody needs two packages with 48 sheets each of pretty paper.  There is no way I would ever use 96 sheets of patterned paper in one month.  This leads to a paper build up and that makes me feel bad about how I’m spending my money and using my supplies.

So while I was pondering that, I made a set of 6 cards from one piece of 12 x12″ DSP.  I used every smidgen of the paper, and I have 6 simple, but pretty cards featuring that paper.

I cut the sheet into three 4 x 12″ strips.  Two sheets were then trimmed to 4 x 5-1/2″, 4 x 5-1/2″, 1 x 4″, and the remaining piece was cut to 4 x 5″, 4 x 5″, and 2 x 4″.

The two 4 x 5″ pieces were glued to a card front and I added a Happy Birthday sentiment from the Beautiful Butterflies stamp set.  Super simple!

I also flipped the paper over to make a few cards with the pretty back side of the paper.

The rest of the cards all got sentiments from the Hugs for Love and the Bright Borders sets using the To the Point punch.

For this project, I’m using the FREE Sale-A-Bration 12 x 12″ paper called Bloom Impressions.  I added some of the FREE Sale-A-Bration Fresh Freesia Seam Binding Ribbon to the mix.  I stamped my sentiment in Pink Flamingo ink that I stamped-off, and Memento Black.  I wish I’d used Blueberry Bushel instead of the black.  The black felt a little harsh on this card.

I decided to add the 1 x 4″ strip to this paper with the floral side showing.  I added more ribbon and the same ink colors.  I finished it off with some of the FREE Sale-A-Bration Purple Adhesive Backed Sequins.

For this card, I added the 2 x 4″ strip with the floral side showing to the center of the card and eliminated the ribbon.  I also substituted the Blueberry Bushel ink for the black.  I like it so much better!!

I reversed the papers for this one and used my last two pieces of DSP here. The strip was added to the top of the card and I like this one too!!

The moral of that story: Make sure you experiment with your ink colors and DSP placement to see what you like with the supplies you are using!
