Have you ever looked at a card sketch and felt no inspiration at all?
That happened to me today when I sat down to look at this week’s Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.
In all honesty, it is the PERFECT card sketch for using up your pretty paper scraps or Washi tapes.
I just wasn’t feeling it until I pulled out my Altenew watercolor pan set and created a very colorful rainbow background!
It’s raining and snowing here and I think I just needed a rainbow of sorts.
I’ve changed the scale of the elements of the card sketch, but I think that I have used the layout in my own creative way.
Here is this week’s sketch from the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge:
I can think of some fabulous background stamps I have that would work with this too. How about that wood plank stamp for example?
I had a piece of watercolor paper sitting on my desk. I pulled out my wide, flat watercolor brush and spritzed the pans of color in my Altenew pan set. Then I just selected a few colors and pulled them across the paper in my painted version of straight lines. The colors blended together and gave me a background that I loved!
I added a scrap of yellow die cut with my MFT Stax circles dies and I die cut the sentiment using the Concord & 9th Little Thoughts Dies that I got for free with a qualifying order.
I added some Pretty Pink Posh sequins flowing across the card diagonally over the sentiment in a variety of sizes and types. I added it to a navy card base and that was that.
So simple and done in a flash with things just sitting on my desk.

Kim I love your rainbow card! Also like the suggestion to use washi tape for this sketch, I hadn’t thought of that.
