The end of the month always brings on the need to use all those paper scraps that I created from my beautiful patterned papers throughout the month. I took the opportunity to use my scraps with this week’s Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge card!
As soon as I saw this sketch, I knew I wanted to create a fall card with leaves, and I wanted to use my patterned paper scraps for as many elements of my design as possible.
I just got the Autumn Leaves stamp and die bundle and the More Than Autumn stamp and die bundle. The Autumn Leaves set is in the current Annual Catalog from Stampin’ Up! The More Than Autumn set is from the new Mini Holiday Catalog that goes live in September! That coffee cup, pumpkin, and whip cream stamp are all a sneak peek!
I used quite a few small patterned paper scraps to create all the leaves. Many of the papers are from the Dandy Designs DSP that I got from the Clearance Rack in May! I thought the colors were very summery and I have been creating with it for several months now. It was 48 sheets of double sided 12 x 12″ DSP and I’ve only used 12 sheets! I’ve created so many projects with it!
I also used a couple of left over papers from the To the Market DSP set. I had 2/3 of a sheet that I used to create one of my card layers, along with the dark green leaves I punched out with my Bough Punch.
I added some natural twine from my Essentials Twine set and some Polka Dot jute trim to add a natural element. You can also spot 3 metallic gems as well. I felt like the addition of the dark green and natural elements actually helped lend a fall feeling to the card. I also pulled out the various shades of green, yellow, and Calypso Coral papers from my stack of scraps.
I stamped the coffee cup on Crumb Cake paper with Crumb Cake ink and then colored it with my Stampin’ Blends. I used a combination of Crumb Cake and Pecan Pie, along with some Ivory to give me the blend I wanted. I love the end result.
I thought this was a fun card to build. It was a sketch that was a little outside of my comfort zone, and I included lots of elements. This is not a clean and simple card!
It’s also a perfect sketch for using those strips of paper we all have sitting somewhere in our craft room!
Thank you for stopping by!!
