I so love this new kit from Stampin’ Up! This is one of their online exclusives kits and it is one of my favorite kits. I loved the A Look Back Kit from October. This one is just as fun!
The kit comes with a 24 page coloring book that has 2 each of 12 different images. It comes with a water painter brush and a set of 8 watercolor pencils.
Unboxing Video:
I loved this so much; I ordered 2 of them. One for me and one to gift to someone.
I only had time to play with one of the images this week and I selected the poinsettia image to color.
You can see the pencils and water painter to the left of my creation and the coloring book above it.
I had so much fun watercoloring with the pencils. I’ve been working on a class to teach watercolor pencil techniques to beginners and I should have it done in a week or so.
I used the most basic techniques to create my image. I was so happy with it, I framed it!
This will make a lovely decoration for December and January for my desk! (The frame is one I use to frame pieces that I love. I use it to change out my work and decorate my space for different seasons.)
Since there are only 8 pencils in the kit, I layered my colors. I started with a light color to fill in the images and then layered on colors. For the flowers, I used Flirty Flamingo, Red, Daffodil Delight, and Berry Burst for the darker bits and shadows. The berries are a combination of Red and Berry Burst.
For the leaves, I used the Garden Green and the Coastal Cabana. I also used the Coastal Cabana for the watercolor wash around the finished florals.
I am happy that there are 2 of each image. I can use one for decorating my space and give the others as gifts to friends and family.
You can also cut these down when you are done and create a card out of them as well.
Watercolor Pencils
There are so many benefits to watercolor pencils. They are so easy to travel with. You really need very few supplies to create pretty pieces. You also don’t really need any artistic talent! Just add some dark spots and light spots and it looks fabulous!
This is also a fairly neat and tidy way to add color to your images.
The kit comes with most of what you need. You only need to add water to the water painter, grab a paper towel and a pencil sharpener. You’re good to go!
