Scrapping 4 Fun Challenge: Anything Goes

By | 10/14/2021

I totally lost track of my days this month!  I actually keep a calendar that I check multiple times a day.  The problem with a calendar is that if you accidentally leave something off the calendar…you don’t remember to get it posted!

My project for the new Scrapping 4 Fun Challenge did not make it to my calendar!  This is a work in progress.  I feel like it needs something more, but haven’t decided what I want to add yet.

Mixed Media Mess

I’m working on creating mixed media pages for a book I’m creating with quotes that I find to be very inspirational.  I have a stack of backgrounds that I made last summer with Vicki Boutin and I want to bind them together to create a book.

I am working my way through finishing each page, but this one doesn’t quite feel finished.

It has many layers of of ink smooshing and splatters to create a rainbow background.  I added a Picket Fence stencil, a Visible image quote, and a Pinkfresh butterfly and sentiment that I watercolored.

I also added some interesting buttons and sequins.  And of course…Washi tape.

I think it needs some texture so I think that will be next.  It also needs more marks.

Mixed Media Mess

I definitely need to spend more time with Vicki and get back to work with my Wanderlust classes.  I think they inspire me and give me ideas.

Also, my current mood is not reflected by the colors in this project.  My husband’s mother passed away in September and we spent a couple of weeks packing up her house and getting rid of stuff.  I found it horribly depressing to pack up another person’s life into boxes and just give it away and discard the rest even if it is someone you aren’t especially fond of.  My color choices in projects that I have been creating lately clearly reflect what I consider to be a dark mood!

So I’m finding it a challenge to finish a project that I started a couple months ago when I felt sunnier.  I should have restarted my project and let my mood out into my art.  I think even if your mood is dark, your work is better when you are creating what you are feeling.

And pouring out your feelings into your art is great therapy!!

According to Michael Jackson…that is what art is for!

Thank you for stopping by friends!  I have a fun project to share with you tomorrow and I promise to be more uplifting!

Be well.

Beautiful Mixed media page! Do not be hard on yourself it happens to all of us! About your page, I love it just like it is! If you do want to add something more, maybe go in with a white or black marker around the colorful page with some doodle lines. But I love it like it is.
Thank you for your lovely DT Creation at Scrapping4funChallenges.
    Have a great weekend
