Simple Cardmaking with Stampin’ Blends and a Classic Card Layout

By | 03/08/2025

Stampin’ Up! released some new products on March 4.  I couldn’t resist playing with one that I just got a couple of days ago. It’s called Resourceful Rusty.

I’m treating this like a squirrel, but I think it could work for a raccoon or even a cat…you let me know what you think!

This photo just doesn’t show the Exposed Brick embossing folder panel that I made for this card front.  It’s a great embossing folder for this card, but you can’t see the details in the photo!

Isn’t that little critter cute?

I played around with coloring him in with my Stampin’ Blends.  Of course, I made a swatch file for my file box so I know what colors I used this time when I go to use this stamp set again.

You can see the list of Stampin’ Blends I used on my critters.  I find making a reference card and keeping it in a recipe file box to be extremely helpful when I want to use this again.

You can see that I used a classic card layout here with the critters in a row across the card.

Card Recipe:

  • white panel: 1-3/4″ x 5-1/2″
  • Cherry Cobbler: 2 x 5-1/2″
  • Crumb Cake: 4-1/4 x 5-1/2″
  • Card Base: 5-1/2 x 8-1/2, scored and folded at 4-1/4″

I added some Neutral Matte Dots and Linen Thread to finish off my card.

The sentiment is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and die cut with the small sentiment die from the Beautiful Butterflies die set.
