There Are No Mistakes In Stamping!

Seriously!  Almost anything can be fixed!  I’m not a perfectionist at all, but I do want my cards to look nice.  I want to be proud of the things that I’m making and giving to people.  I am not going to stress about it though!  I stamp to relax.  It’s supposed to be fun, not perfect!

I made a card yesterday that I actually made a video for.  It’s not easy to stamp around a tripod!  Needless to say, I made the card 3 times before I deemed it acceptable and the sentiment is still not straight even by my relaxed standards!

No worries!  I deconstructed them and recreated them!

On the left, you can see the sentiment is crooked!  This is a super easy fix and I am a master at fixing this one!  I have a lot of experienced fixing this mistake!

labelfixI stamped the image on a piece of scrap and punched it out with my Modern Label Punch.  I also punched out a piece in the dark gray and cut it in half to create a border around my sentiment and this allowed me to make it wider to cover the original crooked sentiment!

The second card had a crooked sentiment and a crooked background. My fix here is to cut a mat that is 1/8″ smaller than the card (the card is is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2″ and scored at 4-1/4″, so the gray mat is cut at 5-3/8 x 4-1/8″).  I completely covered the card base on this one!

fixit2I’m still deciding whether I like the seahorse.  I think I might like the card better if I had just put the sentiment on top and moved it over to the left more.  You have to admit, it’s nice not to waste card stock.  Nobody will ever know (well, besides us) that I covered a crooked image up!

I’ve also learned that little smudges can be covered by pearls, buttons, rhinestones, bows and butterflies!  You would be amazed at how often a perfectly placed butterfly was not on the original card plan!

Stamping should be fun and relaxing.  The more you stamp, the better your cards will turn out.  Don’t give up on a card that isn’t perfect.  Cover up the imperfect part in some clever way.  Consider it a challenge to fix it!
