I’m truly grateful for these quick and easy cards today! It was Back to School Night and that made for a very long day! If you are a parent or a teacher, you know how hectic this time of year is getting the kids back to school and on the right track for the school year. I created two cards from the Truly Grateful stamp set that use no layers and only two colors.
One layer cards are a great way to make a card in a flash. Plus, if you are new to stamping, you don’t have a stash full of supplies to choose from to create your cards. You have no choice but to keep it simple. Here, I have used one stamp set, two inks and some embellishments. The embellishments are simple…linen thread and buttons. The linen thread is an inexpensive, yet fabulous touch to add to any card.
One of the keys to one layer cards is to choose a stamp set that has images and a sentiment or two. I also didn’t need any adhesives for this card, which also keeps the cost down. The only actual tool that I used was my Stampin’ Trimmer. I could have made this card without that tool, but I do love cutting my card stock straight! The Stampin’ Trimmer is the first stamping tool you will want to invest in if you are just getting started.
For the second card, the only extra that I added is the Natural Ribbon Trim. I love this combined with the linen thread and the Wood Designer Buttons. I intended to stamp the sentiment in the Soft Suede ink, but accidentally inked it on the Summer Starfruit pad, so that is the color it ended up! I love that this set has two great sentiments. I’ve used these sentiments quite a bit with other stamp set. I love the truly grateful sentiment. This card did require some glue dots as well.
While the cards aren’t really colorful, they reflect the images and the season.
