Using Busy Paper on Your Scrapbook Layouts

By | 02/19/2025

The busiest patterned papers are always the cutest or the prettiest in a paper package.  They are also the hardest to use on your scrapbook layouts.

I created a cute double page scrapbook layout using Stampin’ Up!’s new Meant to Bee Scrapbook Workshop Kit.  I loved the bee paper, but those bees are really busy!

I created a layout that I could fit 9 photos and it has some classic layout details.  Stamping Imperfection Meant to Bee Layout

This was my layout plan.  I wanted one 4 x 6″ photo, 3 photos at 3 x 4″, and 3 photos at 2 x2″.  I also planned to use the busy bee paper where you see the medium gray behind all the small photos.  It’s going to cover a good portion of my layout!

I used the light side of the new two toned Old Olive 12 x12″ paper.  I added a piece of white cut at 8-1/2 x 10-1/4″, the pink is 7 x 8″, the bee paper is 3 x 8″, the Petunia Pop is 3 x 4-1/2″, the petal pink is 3 x 4-1/4″.  That leaves me a nice 2″ border of that Old Olive around 3 sides of the paper.  You can see that I added a title sticker and the large bee sticker on dimensionals.  I also added the floral and heart die cuts on dimensionals.  I added some black centers to the flowers and a stitched detail to the hearts.  I also added some bee hive stamping with Old Olive ink.  The dots are from the Party Dots embellishments.  I did a little distressing on the Petunia Pop paper as well.

On this page, the white is cut at 8-1/2 x 10-1/4″, the busy bee paper is cut at 8 x 9″, the pink is 1 x 8″, the petunia pop is 4-1/2 x 9″, the petal ink is 4-1/4 x 9.  I used a 3 x 4 card from an old Memories and More set and added some decoration to it.  More party dots, more bee stickers, and more hearts and flower die cuts finished off the page! I have 3 petal pink 2-1/4″ squares as well.  There is more hive stamping in Old Olive and one sticker sentiment in the top right of the layout, diagonal from the title.

My daughter just sent me the cutest picture of her holding her own daughter and that will be my feature photo in the 4 x 6″ spot on the first layout.  Then I have so many cute ones of the baby, I don’t know how I will choose!!
