We all have those stamp sets we love that are for a very specific event. The Scrappy Tails Design Team wanted to share some ideas with you for using the Sweet Bear stamp set after Valentine’s Day was over!
I have 3 different ideas for using this stamp set and a couple of fun techniques.
My first two cards involve stamping on patterned paper and cutting out your image. This is a great way to use up your paper scraps!
This is a great technique to use when you don’t have time to color in those images and it allows you to use those outline stamps as if they are solid stamps!
Card Recipe:
- Card base: white cut at 4-1/4 x 11″, score and fold at 5-1/2″
- Pink/Blue panel cut at 4 x 5-1/4″
- White panel cut at 3-3/4 x 5″
- Distress Oxide Spray, Altenew Silver Spray, Shimmerz Snow Way Man Vibez Spray
- Random Sequins from my stash
- Patterned papers from Sunny Studio Stamps
My second card involved creating a background panel using the Scrappy Tails Crafts Poppin’ Poppy stamp set to create a background in white heat embossed powder then I did some ink blending with Catherine Pooler’s Do-Si-Do, Chiffon, and Cummerbund inks.
The little bear is watercolored with the same colors of Catherine Pooler inks that I blended with plus the In The Park ink. I added some shadow details with my watercolor pencils and my Copic YG41 marker. I added a sentiment from my stash and some sequins to finish this off.
I LOVE how bright and colorful this card is!
My last card was an experiment! I wanted to see how it would work if I created a background with a background stamp and then stamped the bear over that. I ended up using the same Poppin’ Poppy stamp to heat emboss the background. This meant that I had to heat emboss the stamped bear image as well since the heat embossed background would resist ink. I used my Versa Mark and black embossing powder to create the bear. The background I created give the bear some interesting texture!
This is one of my new favorite background techniques lately! I used my Bubbles stencil from STAMPlorations and dragged my Versa Mark ink over the stencil on the paper. I used Nuvo Serenity Blue embossing powder to heat emboss the background. I added 7 little scalloped circles cut from some patterned paper and then distressed the edges of them with my Distress Oxide in Kitsch Flamingo. I added them on to the card panel with liquid glue and popped the bear up with some foam tape.
Doesn’t he have an interesting design? I love the way this experiment turned out!

I can’t pick a favorite! They are all awesome.
Thank you Kristina!
These are great cards! I often have trouble with realistic coloring, so your idea to use either patterned paper or background stamps for the bears is something I will really use. Thank you!
Thank you! I’m so glad! Sometimes we just don’t have time to color and it’s nice to have some alternative techniques!
I love every card you did with this stampset …you are so creative and inspiring

Well you had me at splatter and schmoosh, then balloons… it’s a party for that sweet bear stamp!! Yuppers, of course love them all, but the shmooshy pink and blue are mine.
Haha! Thank you! I feel like no card is complete without a bit of spaltter!
I think the boy and girl bear cards are so cute… I like using patterned paper to stamp on also but my favorite of all the cards is the super bright one with the poppy background with the rainbow of colors…. Beautiful…. Now I am off to watch the video…. TFS..
Thank you so much! That bright one was very fun to make!
The blue, and the pink cards look so cute with the dots. I have seen dots on other cards, but not baby cards. I love the look!!
Thank you so much! I love the splatter on a card. I always feel like it finishes it off.
