3 Cards, 1 Stamp Set: Scrappy Tails Crafts Spring Birds Cards

By | 03/23/2021

The new release from Scrappy Tails Crafts was so good that I had a really hard time picking which stamp and die sets I wanted to get with my limited crafty budget.

One of the stamp sets that I selected is called Spring Birds.  I chose it because I love creating scene cards and this seems like a perfect set to create some really nice scenes with.

I have 3 cards and a video tutorial for you today using this stamp set!

My first card is a single layer CAS card using the birdbath from the stamp set and some simple Copic Coloring.

I love single layer cards and creating little scenes with my markers.  I added some ground and grass below the bird bath and then decided to stamp a few of the smallest floral in the stamp set and connect them with some leafy vines that I added free-hand.

I added some black and white splatters and 3 Maker Forte Crown Jewel Gems to finish off the card.

The second card uses the negative piece of a die cut that I used to create the last two cards.

I added some ink blending with Scattered Straw and Fossilized Amber distress oxide inks to the card base and then placed the panel with the circle die cut out of it over the top of the card base.

I had stamped the branch image by masking off the top branch and leaves set so that I could place a bird on top of the branch.  I used my Copics to color the image in and then fussy cut around it.  I left a lot of the white between the leaves, so I used my Dove Blender Brush to add some It’s A Boy ink from Catherine Pooler to add the sky between the leaves.

I added one of the birds that I colored and die cut out.  Both the branch and the bird are popped up on foam.  The sentiment is added from the Rose Trellis stamp set.

The finishing touch is some Maker Forte Crown Jewel Gems in Bittersweet.

My final card uses the circular mat cut from the panel I used in the card above.  This is die cut with the Pinkfresh Studio Braided Circles die and ink blended with the It’s a Boy ink from Catherine Pooler.

When I was adding birds to the circle, I felt like it needed a little something more, so I pulled out the Assorted Leaves die set and die cut two pieces of the curvy leafy stem in a patterned polka dot green paper.  I added the birds and flowers with some foam on top of the stems and I felt like the stems were the perfect touch!

I also added some Maker Forte Crown Jewel Gems in Vegas Strip to this card as my finishing touch.

I’m super happy with the way these came out and delighted that I picked this stamp set!  These are 3 very different cards from the same stamp set!
