Design Team Challenge Competition For Scrapping 4 Fun

By | 01/03/2021

I’m participating in a design team challenge competition with my Scrapping 4 Fun Challenge design team.  We were given the challenge to create a project using a color challenge with the twist of a song or poem line included somehow.

I love the color challenge!  How gorgeous are these colors together?

Of course, I immediately made myself a cup of hot cocoa!  (Non-dairy of course since I’m allergic to dairy!)  It was inspiring and I got started on my project!

I created a gorgeous little box using some Photoplay Christmas paper and some pointsettia’s that created using some dies from Sunny Studio stamps.  A little Paper Lane twine added a nice touch!

You can see the video of the basic box creation using this link and joining my free Mighty Network Papercrafters’ Hangout site.

I also created a mixed media tag and boy did I have fun with that!

I started with some Mintay 6 x 6″ paper.  I stenciled on some pine cones with an Altenew stencil and Catherine Pooler Icing on the Cake ink.  I also added some stars with an Echo Park stencil and some Vicki Boutin iridescent glaze colored with CP ink.  Once that was dry, I used Rouge CP ink around the edge of the tags and then stamped some images using a 49th and Market stamp.  I also stenciled some rouge dots using another Echo Park stencil.   From there, I stamped some small pine cones using a layered stamp from Sunny Studio Stamps to create little tags on which I wrote to and from with a journaling pen.  I attached the tags to the larger tag and then added some cream Nuvo embellishment mousse over the top of everything.  I added some red sparkle snowflakes that I die cut using an Altenew die and more pine cones that I stamped and die cut from the Sunny Studios set. I added a jewel snowflake trinket and some clear gems.  The final touches included red and natural twine and some white splatters with gouache.

I love how the tag came out!design team challenge competition project

The line “Go be an everyday angel”, came from a song sung by Radney Foster called  “Everyday Angel”.

Here is a sample of the lyrics and I got it from the Top 10 Popular Songs About Angels.

“Go be an everyday angel
The kind without wings
Walking around in this world
Just like you and me
Angel, living out love
Kind of people we could use us a lot more of
Just an everyday angel
Everyday angel.”

I feel like the world needs more everyday angels walking around in this world and I do my best to be one every single day.

Thank you so much for joining me today!  I’m delighted to share a project that took me out of my comfort zone.  I created this in early December and spent 2 days working on it.  I had a blast creating it.  I was just trying to add layers of things that I have been learning to add for months from my favorite mixed media artists, like Vicki Boutin and Seth Apter.

Be well my friends!  I hope that stopping by here gave you a little break from everything!  I most definitely appreciate that you stopped by!
