Sometimes it’s nice to create a card that doesn’t require much, if any, stamping. The easiest way to do that is with the Big Shot and a great set of thinlets dies!
I bought this set of giant Numbers Dies thinking that I would use it in my scrapbooks. I’ve been too busy with my unpacking and diy projects to my little fixer upper to have time to scrapbook.
I have been taking pictures along the way, so that scrapbook will get made over winter break!
I decided to make a CAS or Clean and Simple New Years card to participate in a new card challenge. I’m going to add this to the linky from the Happy Little Stampers December CAS challenge.
I just discovered this site today. It looks like they have several different challenges running at once, so I decided to give one a try. I was browsing their online store to see what kinds of products they sell and it looks like a card maker’s gold mine! I don’t have any of their products yet, but I did start my wish list.
A huge benefit from using your dies to create a card is that you end up with two cards. One with the die cut and one with the negative piece.
Both make great clean and simple cards. I do have to say that they alphabet dies are a huge outlay of money, but I use them for all kinds of products and I waited until I had a big order so I got them at 50% off. That is the best way to make our crafting budgets stretch…buy on sale and then use your supplies for lots of projects.
My numbers thinlets dies are from Stampin’ Up! and I have the coordinating alphabet set. It’s my favorite alphabet and number set because it is giant! You don’t need to add a lot of extra stuff to complete the cards.
For the first card I used a piece of the new black shimmer ribbon (sneak peek…available in January) and a retired greeting die that I added Dazzling Diamond glitter embossing powder to. The washi tape strip is from one of the collections from the retiring Holiday Catalog. Check out the retiring list and clearance rack at mystampingstore.com
On the second card, I used the same ribbon but I actually heat embossed a sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes in white embossing powder onto the ribbon. I was surprised at how well that worked!. The tiny champagne glasses are cut from silver glimmer paper using a die from my Catherine Pooler collection.
Two quick cards with one swipe through the Big Shot. Ya’ gotta love that!
Now I just have to clean up!
Thank you for stopping by! I hope you are having a peace-filled holiday season. Find some time to craft and let the stress fall away.
I’m looking forward to new crafting opportunities in 2018. I imagine you are too!!
Two super cards using the positive and negative of these great dies. Great use of the metallics with a little sparkle too, perfect for new year cards. So glad you found the HLS store, and no doubt your wishlist will be growing as I know another stamp release will be launching soon 😉
Thanks so much for playing along at Happy Little Stampers CAS Challenge, Anita x
