A Blog Hop, A Challenge, And A Technique

By | 11/05/2019

Today I am sharing a card that I made for a technique class I am teaching.  I wanted to participate in the 2019 Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop and I’m using this for my DT card for this week’s Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.

After the first of the year, I will be releasing several online classes and this background is one of the background techniques I will share with you for the class.

This is Ombre ink blending resist technique.  I just love how Catherine Pooler Inks blend with the Picket Fence brushes.  I’ve used the CP inks Icing on the Cake, Over Coffee, and Sand Castle.

This is a resist technique because I stamped the teacups from Altenew’s Vintage Teacup set with Versa Mark and heat set it in white embossing powder.  I created my own background and then just blended the 3 brown inks from light to dark.

The smaller cut and sentiment are from an older Hero Arts My Monthly Hero kit that was all about coffee!  The sentiments are pretty irresitible!

I added a splash of red and some fall sequins with some natural twine just for fun.

The Hero Arts images are heat set in clear embossing powder to make the colors pop and to give them a nice glossy finish.

I’m participating in the 2019 Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop.  I love my coffee and I have a shameless number of coffee and tea related stamps sets so it just felt right to use this as an excuse to use a couple of them!

I took some liberties with this weeks Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge and loosely used the sketch for the card…or I should say, decided that the sketch worked for the card I created for the blog hop!
