Ahoy! It’s stamping time! It’s also time for this week’s Paper Craft Crew Sketch challenge. This was another great sketch created by our fearless leader Pam!
I contemplated using one of the new floral images on the center of the card. The sketch shows all that white space and that just seems to scream for a nice big image.
But I have to perfectly honest…my craft table is not at its tidiest at the moment. I looked around and saw all of the scraps of that fabulous High Tide Designer Series Paper sitting on my desk from a recent project. It’s just such great paper, that I decided to make it the focal point of the card.
All of the papers that I used for this card were scraps that I had sitting on my desk. (Yet my desk is still no tidier!) The paper really makes the card! Since the designer paper is two sided with a different, yet coordinating pattern on the back, it’s easy to combine patterns you might not have considered putting together. I really like this combination of patterns. I love the swirling water feel of the top pattern and the sand castle beach feel of the bottom paper.
The sentiment is from the Hello, Sailor stamp set that is made to coordinate with this paper pack. I’ve used the Artisan Punch to frame the sentiment. The colors for the ink, ribbon and card stock are pulled from the colors in the designer paper.
I’ve been using this paper for scrapbook layouts. We live near Long Island Sound, so needless to say, I have scads of beach pictures of my kids! In fact, it’s a tradition to get a picture of the two of them each summer together at the beach. What a fun tradition. Looking back and seeing how my daughter, who is the oldest, was so much taller than my son who now towers over her!! (A fact that he especially enjoys given how much his older sister tormented him growing up!)
