Do you ever have days where you feel like just making backgrounds and playing with background techniques?
I sometimes do. I actually have a whole pile of backgrounds all made just because I wanted to play with my gel plates. I also have other backgrounds that I’ve experimented with just to play around with inks and colors.
I pulled a simple background out today to give a soft background to a floral piece that I colored and fussy cut out. This is a digital stamp from Kinda Cute by Patricia that I enjoyed coloring while listening to the TV in the background.
I think the floral should be the star of the show here, so I wanted a simple background and a simple sentiment strip.
For the background, I simply masked off the edges of my card front with some low tack tape and then ink blended a mossy green background. I tried to keep the top darker and lighten the ink as I moved toward the bottom of the card.
The digital stamp that I colored and cut out is popped up on some foam tape. The sentiment strip is from a premade pad from Simon Says Stamps. All I had to do was cut it out with my trimmer and add some adhesive on the back.
I added a few sequins to finish the card.
I love the simplicity of this card. I like the simplicity of how it looks and how quick and easy it was to make.
I will definitely be keeping a stack of backgrounds on hand to create more cards like this.
I love to color with Copics and watercolor my images. It’s nice to be able to focus my time on doing that knowing that I have backgrounds and sentiments ready to go. It makes quick work of finishing your card!
