Feeling Fickle with Stampin’ Up!

By | 03/30/2013

I always feel so fickle using my Stampin’ Up! goodies.  Honestly, one day my very favorite color to stamp with is Melon Mambo and the next it’s Midnight Muse!  Most of the time, the color my card turns out to be isn’t the one I had planned in my head when I sat down to be creative!

clothesline1Today I sat down thinking Pretty in Pink and ended up with Midnight Muse!  I spent all afternoon and evening yesterday plus all morning and a good chunk of the afternoon today doing my taxes.  Then the FAFSA for the kids for college.  By the time I had a chance to sit down and stamp, I wasn’t feeling creative.  I have to say, as soon as I sat at my craft table, I felt inspired!

Print Poetry.  That was the first thing I pulled out.  I love the new DSP papers in the Spring Catalog.  I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite, but today I was in the mood for the fun colors in the Print Poetry Pack.  I selected 3 pieces and trimmed 2 strips 3/4 x1-1/4″ from each.  You get 6 different patterns this way because the designer series paper (DSP) is two sided.  I love that!  I also love that the two sides coordinate with each other as do all the papers from one set.  I got a fairly colorful card with essentially 3 strips of paper!  As you can see, I made notches in the bottom with my heart punch.  I love this technique.  I have a Two Minute Technique Video that shows you how easy this is!!!

Card Instructions and Details:

  • Card base is Midnight Muse (5-1/2 x11″, scored at 4-1/4″), the whisper white mat is cut at 4 x5-1/4″ and attached with snail.
  • The clothesline is made from Linen Thread (#104199) with bows tied and attached with glue dots.
  • The banners are made from Print Poetry DSP (#129312) cut at 3/4 x 1-1/4″ and punched with heart punch (#119883)
  • The floral stamp is from World Treasures (#126767) stamped in Crumb Cake.
  • The sentiment is from the From My Heart set (#126557) stamped in Midnight Muse.

Doesn’t that sound easy?  It is!!  It’s a perfect card for a beginner.  You can use your leftover scraps of paper for the banners on the line.  It’s also a great card for an experienced card maker as well.  You can get as fancy with your stamping techniques as you would like to with the sentiment.  You could also emboss the background as well.

Think about how you might step this card up to the next level with some of the stamping tricks that you know!  Leave me a comment and let me know how you might CASE this card and change it to reflect your stamping style!  I would love to hear your ideas!!
