Today’s card is my latest coloring practice. I used the free stamp I got from Gina K Designs called Thank You Friend. It’s a pretty little stamp set with 4 sentiments and a truly fabulous image.
I added a set of 6 blue Copic markers to my collection that includes a set of 6 skin tones and a set of 3 yellows. I decided that I would get one set of 3 or 6 of each color family to practice blending and coloring. I’ve used my Altenew Artist markers for the green, yellow and gray that I’ve used to color the rest of the image in.
I placed an order with Gina K Designs because a friend came in to tell me about the wreath builder kit and show off some cards that she created. Of course, I fell in love with the cards and decided that was a must have kit for my stash. I love that when you place a qualifying order, you get a free stamp set from Gina K Designs. How pretty is this little image? (The sentiment came from the Hello Friend stamp set that I also added on to my order!)
I’ve been practicing my coloring and there are two things that I added to this attempt. I added a gray shadow to the left and the underneath parts of the image. I also added some dark details to the shadow crease portions of the image. It is supposed to add more dimension and depth to the image. The instructor made those two details look so easy. Isn’t that always the way?
She also emphasizes practicing your coloring at least 10 minutes each day. I have been practicing and it does feel like I’m making progress. I can’t wait to get to the point where I can start adding some of the beautiful details to the cards.
I have to say that I’m getting more comfortable with the flicking technique and I definitely like my coloring attempts more each time I try them. Progress is slow and steady!
I think that I next need to practice leaving more light or white space in the images.
I’m glad that you stopped by to visit. I spent most of my day organizing and cleaning up my craft room. I always need at least one day every 3 weeks or so to put new stuff away, organize papers and just clean up the scraps. They certainly do build up.
I’ve been working on some of my craft room organization tools and I’m almost ready to share them with you.
Happy crafting!! Remember to embrace the imperfections!
