This month’s Hedgehog Hollow card kit is my favorite so far. HH worked with Sunny Studio which is one of my favorite little stamp companies. The kit included an exclusive stamp set created by Sunny Studio for the HH card kits. I started subscribing 4 months ago and I decided to go with a 1 year subscription to give the kits a chance and see if I liked them. When you subscribe for more than just one month, you get an extra full sized crafting product in your kit.
I like that extra crafting product because it is giving me a chance to try products that I might not have tried without the card kit. Plus, the kits come with some pretty specialty card stock, a nice set of 6 x 6″ patterned papers, at least one die and at least one stamp set. I actually think that I’ve gotten 2 or 3 stamp sets each kit with one stamp set being all sentiments. I’ve been really happy with the kits which are accompanied by a set of video tutorials and some coupon codes.
This month’s kit was a fantastic little summer set. It was rainbows of color! One stamp was all sentiments that coordinated with the word die in the kit. The second stamp set was a set of cute little girls ready for a day at the pool. What I like about this is that I’m trying to learn coloring techniques and this set gives me a chance to try out some faces and hair. The first set that I received was like that too. It was a cute little girl and a dog.
The card I created today uses this week’s Paper Craft Crew card sketch for the layout.
I’m no expert colorist, but I stamped a bunch of the little girls using my Hero Arts archival ink and pulled out what few Copics I have and my Altenew Artist Markers. The only Copic markers that I own are the flesh tones which also work for hair. I found practicing my coloring to be a relaxing thing to do and I ended up with a variety of skin tones and hair colors. This little one was my favorite. I fussy cut her out and then created a little pool using the Sunny Studio scallop circle dies that I had in my stash with purple glitter paper, white and blue card stock.
Isn’t that red swiss dot card stock pretty? I always get a couple of pieces of colored card stock in interesting textures. The printed paper was part of the patterned paper stack that came in the kit. I love Sunny Studio patterned papers. I can’t wait until Friday because they are doing their July release and the new papers are perfect for fall and in the same fun patterns as these summer rainbow papers.
The sentiment came from a My Favorite Things stamp set called Yay For You. I heat embossed this in white. One of the HH kits had a Nuvo Clear Mark embossing pad which I finally used along with the white embossing powder that came in the first kit I got and is from LDRS Creative.
I added some Studio Katia iridescent round drops for fun. I love those Studio Katia embellishments. These are especially pretty when you tip the card in the light.
Here is this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch:
I was tempted to make a scrapbook page out of this layout. I think I might do that later in the week. I just think it would be a perfect scrapbook page layout!
Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you are finding time to craft and relax this summer.
