Do you love challenges as much as I do?
I really love that the Make The Cards Challenge isn’t just a sketch challenge. There is some new kind of challenge every week. This week it happens to be a sketch challenge.
Now, I do have hexagon dies, but I kind of wanted to put my own twist on this sketch. Instead of using a shape for the 3 focal pieces, I used stamps!
These stamps are from Catherine Pooler’s newest release called Waves of Happiness.
As soon as I saw this sentiment, I knew that I was going to make a card for my husband with this sentiment!! He thought it was an excellent sentiment and he loved the card. (In fact, he shouted, “This is excellent!”) He’s a big fishing guy and we saw a couple of seahorses off our dock in Florida over the winter. It really is kind of perfect for him!
You can see that I placed the two images that I die cut and then stamped the little fish so that it formed that triangle of the 3 images from the sketch.
I cut the sentiment apart so I had two sentiment strips that I could place where I wanted them without covering up too much of the sea creatures.
I used only part of the background stamp by just inking up the two new CP inks. I started with the lightest new ink called Tranquil and then stamped a little bit below it using the new Cove Blue ink.
The stingray and the seahorse were stamped and colored with my Altenew Artist Markers and then fussy cut and popped on foam. I stamped the small fish directly on to the card and colored them in creating that triangle that the hexagons show in the sketch.
I added the sentiment by using some foam on the ends of the sentiment strips and then carefully placed them on the card.
The final touch was some clear jewel gems at the top and the bottom to finish off the card.
I love this new Catherine Pooler release. I actually purchased the entire release, which is something I haven’t done in a very long time! I loved all of the goodies and I really love the 4 new ink colors that she has released.
