My Monthly Hero Fairy Card With Distress Oxide Background Techniques

By | 12/15/2018

This month’s My Monthly Hero kit was simply amazing! The kit always comes with a full size stamp set and coordinating die set wrapped in a piece of pretty ribbon. It usually has some extras like the shimmer cardstock, package of sequins and the Sakura Jelly Roll Sparkle Pen.
I was seriously excited to find out that the jelly roll pen was a SPARKLE pen. Who knew that was a thing?!

As soon as I saw the fairies and sentiments, I knew that I wanted to create a card using the distress oxide inks as a background with some water spritzed on for a fun effect.

Stamping Imperfection December 2018 My Monthly Hero

The picture does not capture all of the sparkle on this card!  I love that Jelly Roll sparkle pen!

I selected 4 of my favorite distress oxide ink colors for the background: Seedless Preserves, Mermaid Lagoon, Peacock Feathers, and Fossilized Amber.

I blended them, spritzed it with my distress sprayer and let it react for a couple minutes, then blotted it dry.  This ink just blends so perfectly and then you get some fun distress effects when you add water.  That just steps up your background a notch!

I can’t believe all of the stamps in this kit!  It’s like a super sized stamp and die set.

I created a video to share the techniques with you:

I also have a supply list with links below.  Just be aware that the kits sell out fast.  You can get several coordinating dies and stamps to use with this set or on their own.  Once the kit sells out, you can’t get the stamp and die set.  This is a fun one!
