There are so many fantastic stamps and dies in the new release from Scrappy Tails Crafts that you will have a lot of trouble choosing which items to purchase. Luckily for you, Sabrina has bundled the entire release into one special price in case you can’t decide what you want!
There are 3 butterfly die sets in this release and of course I had to add those to my stash. These will be some of my go to die sets. They are classics and belong in every collection. (My next order will be for those cover dies for the wood and brick backgrounds…and that hummingbird stamp set. Why did I not just get the entire release?! Crafty budgets can be so limiting!)
My first card uses a variation of the inlaid die cutting technique in a quick and simple way.
I simply die cut the two intricate dies from the Open Butterfly die set out of white card stock and created a panel of randomly inked white cardstock using my distress oxides to tuck below the die cut panel.
I placed the white panel on top of the inked panel then glued the intricate butterflies back in place. I added a puffy sticker sentiment and some sequins to the top and a yellow mat to the back before adhering the entire thing on to a card base.
Quick and easy!
Card Recipe:
Open Butterfly Die Set
Card Base: White cardstock cut at 4-1/4 x 11″, scored and folded at 5-1/2″
Yellow mat cut at 4-1/4 x 5-1/2″
White panel on top cut at 3 x 5-1/4″
Spring Mix Sequins
Puffy Sticker Sentiment
Distress Oxides: Tumbled Glass, Spun Sugar, Shaded Lilac, Mowed Lawn, Mustard Seed
My second card is a classic layout using just one of the flying butterflies die cut from black.
The butterfly dies all come with an intricate die and a solid die. I used the solid die to cut out a piece of cardstock that I had added color to with some Copic Markers simply by swiping them across the page to create an quick Ombre look. Once the top piece was glue on to the colorful panel, I had a butterfly that looked variegated in color!
I popped the butterfly up on foam on top of a piece of white cardstock that I used a simple cover die from my stash on to give it some texture and interest. I popped this on to a yellow mat and a card base. A sticker sentiment strip and some sequins finished off this very simple card!
