Stretch Your Stash with Stencil Tricks

By | 12/02/2021

You know how much I love stencils.  I still think they are one of the most cost-effective tools we can have in our stash.  There are just so many techniques that we can do with them.  I’m constantly trying new things just to stretch my stash and get more for my crafty bucks!

I’m on The Hedgehog Hollow blog today sharing a card I made with the November subscription box.  I also love a good subscription box!  The November box was fantastic!  This is my 4th project with the contents and I think I’ve finally used all of the things in the box!

How fabulous is this stencil?

You have the snowman and 6 flakes!

The dilemma for my project was that I knew I wanted to use some different colors for the snowman and I also wanted to add an ink blended background.

I solved the color issue by masking off the parts of the stencil that I didn’t want to be black, inking it in black, then masking the black bits so I could add the orange and blue.

Then I went over the entire stencil using clear embossing ink and clear powder.  This allowed me to add the ink blended background that I wanted!

It is a bonus that I now have a shiny snowman!

You can see that I added a black mat and some Crown Jewel Gems to finish off my card.
