Using Stickers And Stamping To Make A Quick Card

By | 08/27/2019

I got involved in my garden project today and left my card until the last minute.  I needed it to be a quickie, so I pulled out some Altenew stickers and acetate die cuts from my stash.  I created a quick background with the new Wavy Roses stamp set from Altenew in a monochromatic color scheme using the Frayed Leaf ink.

The layout uses this week’s Atlantic Hearts Sketch to create almost an abstract feeling background with a pop of color at the top.  The background piece is cut into 3 parts following the sketch and since I was trying to keep the background monochromatic, I made my own piece of colored card stock using the Frayed Leaf ink and my blender brushes.

I also used Maple Yellow and Wisteria to create small pieces for the two paper strips at the top of the sketch.  The butterfly is one of the Altenew Watercolor Stickers.  I added some foam tape on the back to give it dimension.  I originally stuck it down on the card and it was just too flat.  All cards need dimension, either with color, texture, or actual layers popped on top of each other.

I added some Altenew enamel dots in the bright yellow and some clear bubbles for fun. I also added some quick black splatter.

The one thing that I think this card needs and doesn’t have is some metallic or sparkle element.  I feel like cards are naked without that touch!

I selected the butterflies and flowers because this week’s Paper Craft Crew challenge is an inspiration challenge!

Thank you for stopping by this week!  I hope you are finding more time to craft than I am.  I’ve been busy cleaning closets and creating a new front garden from scratch for my old fixer upper cottage!  It’s always fun to go dig in the dirt and create a pretty oasis to sit and watch the birds, bees and butterflies enjoy!

I am loving your butterfly, and I love that you went with your own created background, keeping is simple, and using the butterfly for that pop. Great job.

Love how you cut apart your paper and mounted each piece on the green cardstock, this turned out really nice! Thank you for joining AHSC this week.
