Are you like me? Has it been some time since you played with your alcohol inks?
I pulled mine out today to create a quick and fabulous background for a pretty butterfly die cut from Scrappy Tails Crafts Open Butterfly Die Cut set and I’m so happy that I did!
Why am I playing with butterflies? Because it is the theme for this week’s Make The Cards Challenge!
I’ve made a couple videos with different ways to use these fabulous butterfly dies and I have another one for you today!
I made a quick alcohol ink background using Honeycomb alcohol ink from Ranger.
Then my plan went awry!
I had created a second background to die cut the solid butterfly piece so that I could layer the intricate die piece cut out of gold foil.
I have no foil cardstock of any color left in my stash!
My new plan was to use some glitter paper instead of the foil, but I didn’t love it on the colorful background butterfly piece that I had created.
Luckily, the glitter die cut butterfly is pretty all on it’s own. This is a deep purple almost black glitter paper that I had in my stash.
I love how this die cut allows you to fold up the wings to make it look like the butterfly is about to take flight.
The sentiment is from a set of cut apart sentiments from Maker Forte called Simple Sayings: Just Because. I so love the cut apart sentiments. It’s a huge time saver and since I am using a die set and no stamps for my card, this gave me a ready made sentiment that looks really nice on the card. It’s also foilable, so that is a detail I could have added if I had wanted to.
