I love coming home to find a box of crafty goodness on my porch.
Have you ever been so relieved to get home on a Friday afternoon that you just sat down for a few minutes and ended up falling asleep for a couple of hours? That is what happened to me today. I was feeling a little under the weather between allergies a long week at work!
I did not get to my crafty goodness until after dinner and I just wasn’t feeling the inspiration to actually complete my project.
We all have days like this, right?
I did sit down and play with the Simon Says Stamp May Kit that was sitting on my porch. I love this little Take Heart Stamp set and the Pinkfresh patterned paper that came in the kit. I used my Altenew markers to color in my image after practicing with what few Copics that I have. I really love the Altenew markers and I’m hoping that they come out with more colors!
I also love this kit. It came with two stamp sets and a die, two ink pad cube, lots of paper that included masking paper. It also came with a couple of packages of puffy stickers that I can’t wait to use on some scrapbook pages.
I started to put my card together and realized that I need to finish it when I’ve had a good night of rest and fresh eyes in the morning. I wanted to share this picture so you can see how pretty that little stamp set is from Simon Says Stamp.
I also wanted to take some time to do some more coloring practice. Every class that I’ve taken, no matter what the technique and no matter who the instructor is, they all emphasize the importance of practice. Every single one has said that it took them years to get to the skill level that they have now.
What I find amazing is that every one of them has a different technique for how they color with alcohol markers or how they watercolor. At some moments, I feel confused about what is the best way to do something, but I have to remind myself that some of the techniques are pretty advanced and I need to take baby steps and practice the strokes, the blending, leaving white space and so forth.
I am having a really good time trying all the techniques and new tools that I’ve purchased. It really is a great escape after working all day and all week.
It truly replenishes my soul to finally have the time and space to be creative.
Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you find some time for yourself today to refill and replenish yourself after a day or a week of doing so much for everyone else. You have my permission to put yourself first for a little while this weekend!!
