Have you had a stamp set that you wanted as soon as you saw it?
That’s how I felt when Patricia Alvarez releases her Monarch Butterfly digital set of 3 butterflies. I was in love and it went immediately on my wish list!
I added lots of color and sparkle when I colored these 3 sweet butterflies in with my Copic Markers. (I added a bit too much sparkle to the head of the middle butterfly!)
I had a lot of fun coloring these and adding some gel pen details to them.
My background was created with a slimline Dahlia stencil from Maker Forte. This stencil is perfection! I used Mustard Seed, Rusty Hinge, and Dried Marigold Distress Oxide inks with the stencil to give the flowers some dimension. I also added some Maker Forte Crown Jewel Gems in Bittersweet and Vegas Strip blue to create flower centers and butterfly paths.
I colored all 3 butterflies in different ways just for fun. I also added some texture by adding dots of colors on the wings and body in some places. I like to experiment with techniques to see how things look.
As you know, I’m a work in progress and experimenting is how I learn about what works and what doesn’t!
