Acorns Dropping In To Say Hi!

By | 11/16/2016

It really feels like the sky is falling here on Eastern Long Island!  We have had a bumper crop of ACORNS this year!  They seem to be falling by the buckets and I have been pelted on the head more than once just walking across the lawn!

My card today is an Ode to the Acorn!

This week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge is a fun, clean and simple design.

I just needed some time to sit down and be creative and I needed it to be simple.  My husband and I decided that it was time to downsize and on a whim we went house hunting farther out east on Long Island.  I had a handful of open house listings and off we went.

Well, didn’t we find a house that we fell in love with!  4 rooms in total!  Perfect for downsizing…plus it has a huge garage and a basement with a finished office for my husband and a second finished room that will make a perfect craft room!  It’s actually going to be a perfect house for the two of us as our kids have moved on with the business of living their own lives just like we raised them to.  (Yes…one of the rooms is a spare room that our kids can use when they visit. We will actually have 3 rooms that we use all the time and the spare room that will only get used when the kids visit.)

We’ve spent the last 2-1/2 weeks packing stuff, moving furniture into storage and painting a total of 5 rooms.  (I only have 7 rooms in my house and it really isn’t a big house, but we love it.  I’ve never lived in a house with a formal dining room and I can’t imagine what I would do with one if I had it. I will miss my little office, but I’ll add that to my craft room in the basement!)

Needless to say, we are exhausted.  But we’ve started the process of selling one house and buying another…and then there will be the moving of all the stuff.  What a stressful thing to do.  What were we thinking?

I really should clean out my craft room and downsize that too…but who am I kidding.  My husband isn’t parting with any fishing equipment so I feel no obligation to part with my crafting stash!  I’ll have a new craft room to fill!  I can’t wait until all of the paperwork is done and I can start picking out paint colors and planning the layout of my craft space…more on that a few months from now!

At some point in the next few weeks, I will get all the packing done and I will have 4 different rooms to paint.  (The real estate agent wanted me to paint all of the rooms beige and white.  I live in COLOR!  My rooms are painted deep regal colors and now they are beige and all my furniture is in storage.  How crazy is that?!)

What’s up with this week’s card?

I started with this week’s Paper Craft Crew Sketch:

You will noticed that I used patterned designer paper for my background and then used the gorgeous grunge stamp to create a black splash over the background.  This is from the Halloween designer paper pack and I just wanted to use it up.  Plus…don’t you love the brick pattern?  What a great background.

I used the Acorny Welcome stamp set and added some color with Cajun Craze.  I kept it simple and easy!
