Alcohol Ink Background With Alcohol Lift Ink

By | 09/25/2018

Wait!  What?!

I create an alcohol ink background and then I use a special ink to lift some of it off my background?

That’s what I said!

If you follow me, you know that my latest class is all about re-inkers and I just fell in love with the re-inking techniques that I’ve been doing using the Altenew artist marker refills which are alcohol inks.

Yes…I have fallen in love with yet more cardmaking techniques.  When will this end?!

My card layout is for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge.  It was a fun one with that top piece tipped at a jaunty angle like that.  What is not to love about purposeful crookedness?

Then the colors…I was disappointed with the way my purple/pink/red alcohol ink background came out the other day and I was delighted to see that this week’s Fab Friday challenge is a color challenge using the purple, pink, blue and greens.  Could I resist adding these inks to a piece of Yupo paper just to see what they look like?

Of course not!  I loved the way this came out.  The light blue ink came out to be unexpectedly a greener shade of blue that I quite like.  The light pink came out to be a bit more of a coral pink.  It was an interesting combo.  I love how the ink looks like a photo on shiny paper as it dries on the Yupo paper.

I just got the alcohol lift ink today.  I came home to find this month’s Simon Says Stamp October Card Kit sitting here waiting for me.  It had 3 full size Ranger Alcohol Inks and a full size alcohol lifter ink pad along with the stamp set, Yupo paper, a set of Gina K Designs foil sheets and 3 Gina K Designs foil cards.  It also had some fun colors of card stock as well.  What a great kit this month!

The stamp set in this kit is called Sketched Flowers.  You can see that I used part of the large floral piece and the alcohol lift ink on my background.  You stamp with the ink, blot it with a soft cloth and then buff it to remove the ink from where you stamped.  I also stamped a few of the extra images, colored them with the coordinating Altenew Alcohol markers and attached them to the front of the card with foam tape.  The sentiment is heat embossed in Altenew’s Antique Silver on velum.  I added a few black splatters to the card base and some silver mirrored jewels from Lucy’s Cards.

Just be warned:  If you start playing with alcohol inks, you will get hooked!

We would love to have you join us at the Paper Craft Crew challenge this week!  Take the challenge and play along!

Thank you for stopping by!
