Are You Being Inspired By Pinterest?

By | 12/04/2012

I keep finding amazing inspiration on Pinterest!  I discovered Pinterest during the summer and spent a fair amount of time relaxing on the porch pinning inspiring things.  Now it is time to make some of those things I pinned.  (With the exception of all of the cookie recipes.  What was I thinking?)

Ornament and card idea.

My project today can work as a Christmas ornament, a card, a gift topper or even a jar topper!  My two new favorite colors to use have been Raspberry Ripple and Gumball Green.(I seem to be using them in every project!)  I just love how they go together.  I also love how the Raspberry Ripple looks when you stamp on it with Raspberry Ripple ink.  It is incredible. I found these two colors together on a floral project similar to this in the holiday mini catalog and I’ve been hooked ever since!

This project uses the Daydream Medallion stamp set (126467) and the Floral Frames Framelits (127012), which are made to coordinate together.  The leaves are cut from the Autumn Accents Bigz Die (127812).  I used Very Vanilla card stock for the base, topped with Gumball Green and Be of Good Cheer Designer Series Paper (126896).  I used the Pearls for the center of the flower.  All of this was put together with the Stampin’ Dimensionals to give it that gorgeous dimension!

These are the stamped and die cut pieces before stacking them together with dimensionals.

Tips and tricks:

Stampin’ Up! made this an easy project to create with the coordinating stamp set and framelits. I’ve decided that it is always worth it to purchase the punches, die cuts, framelits and stamp sets that coordinate.  It makes a project so complete.  I think having the beautiful matching papers and ribbons makes all the difference as well!

I never regret buying the coordinating pieces, but I always regret when I just purchase the stamp set or just the punch or framelit.  I have learned my lesson.   Just wait until the next catalog comes out!!!  (Who needs to pay college tuition for two kids?  Maybe we’ll just flip a coin to see who the lucky kid is so mama can have matching stamps, papers and punches!)

Thanks to Kay Kalthoff and Julie Edmonds for the inspiration for this card and ornament.  They created tags and bag toppers with their versions of this and they used different colors, layers and centers.  It looks spectacular embossed if you love to emboss.  I pinned this as soon as I saw it and was inspired to make it right away.  They are probably on my pinned list more than once!  Who isn’t?
