Challenge YOUrself to Create a Celebration Layout

By | 09/07/2022

I finally took a road trip this summer!  I traveled to Ohio to visit my son.  I had not seen his new hometown since he moved there a few months before the pandemic.  Then I drove on to Ann Arbor to see my daughter, her fiance, and their new house.  Again…they bought this back and 2020 and I had not yet paid a visit to see their new home.  The final leg of my trip took me to Rochester, NY to visit my mom and my sister and her family.

This month’s Challenge YOUrself  theme is to create a Celebration layout or to document a celebration.

I chose to document my daughter’s new house!  We posed for this picture at the end of my 7 day stay.  I had such a relaxing week with my daughter and her fiance.  We shared lots of good meals, relaxed in front of the TV, took many walks, and ventured out to different places around Ann Arbor.  I loved seeing their house and all the home improvement projects that they have done in the last couple of years.

It was also nice to hear about the future home improvement plans they have and to be part of the wedding planning as well.

What an exciting time in a young couple’s lives!

I always try to include some journaling in my own handwriting on my layouts.  I treasure the handwritten keepsakes I have from my Dad and my grandparents.

I pulled out all my leftover Hip Kit Club papers and embellishments, along with my Studio Calico leftovers.  I am trying to use up all the scrapbooking kit pieces that I have not yet used.

That gives me an excuse to keep purchasing more goodies to play with!

With the bits I had left from this kit, I had a nice variety of embellishments.  I had fabric bits, chipboard pieces, puffy stickers, and enamel dots.

I love it all!

This is a classic layout.  It gave me the chance to use 3 patterned papers and some fun puffy letters!  I have 3 small ephemera cluster in a triangle and I have a classic horizontal layout with lots of empty space.

I added some white ink splatter to pull the layout all together.

Such a happy memory documented in such a fun way.

Thank you for stopping by!  We would love to have you play along with our challenge this month.  Just remember that YOU need to be in the photo on your layout!
