Clean And Simple Halloween

By | 10/10/2016

I enjoyed revisiting using the Faux Border technique a few days ago, so I decided to use it in a couple of cards today.  I’m participating in two challenges with my card today.  One is a color challenge and one is a Clean and Simple embossing challenge.

Stamping Imperfection CAS Halloween

For the CAS on Sunday Challenge, the challenge was to create a clean and simple card using heat embossing.  I’ve used embossing on the spider, spider web and the sentiment.  cas_challenge-badge

The Paper Players challenge was a color challenge.  The challenge was to use Pumpkin Pie, Wild Wasabi and Black.  (You are always allowed to select one neutral as well.  Here you can see that I’ve selected white!)

For this card, I’ve used a whisper white base cut at 4-1/4 x 11″, scored and folded at 5-1/2″.  The pumpkin, spider and the sentiment are from the Jar of Haunts stamp set.  The spider web is from the Spooky Fun stamp set.  I’ve used Versa Mark ink and Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder to create the heat embossed images.

I’ve used the Faux Border technique with a Project Life black marker and a 3-3/4 x 5″ template created from card stock.  I created a video to share the technique below.  It’s a quick and simple way to add a special touch to a single layer card that really makes it pop.

I actually created another card at first for the CAS on Sunday challenge.  I haven’t decided whether I like the Emerald Envy for the border technique.  This was the first time that I’ve used a color other than black, silver or gold!

Stamping Imperfection Faux Border Noel

I’ve used the new Real Red Stampin’ Emboss Glitter for the Noel.  They also have it in the Emerald Envy color in the Holiday Catalog.  You actually stamp your image or sentiment in Versa Mark ink, cover it with the embossing glitter powder and then heat set.  I found it a little harder to tell when the glitter melted compared to regular embossing powder.  Next time I heat set it, I will use a brighter light to view it as I use my heat tool.  It gets very sparkly as you heat set it and it is quite pretty up close!

The sentient is from the Christmas Pines stamp set that has a coordinating embossing folder and thinlets set.  It’s really a fabulous suite of products.  You will find coordinating designer paper and washi tape as well!  I love that I don’t have to search for things that match.  Stampin’ Up! has taken the work out of it for me!

Thank you so much for visiting today!
