Do you have an inspiration journal? I have taken 2 classes on where to find and collect ideas and inspiration…or your muse. They were amongst my favorite classes. I found myself looking at things in a different way and I also started keeping an inspiration journal. I stash pictures and I draw card layout sketches. I also keep color combinations that I like to use for future projects.
I pulled out my journal and found 4 card ideas and a tag idea using background stamps. I decided to use one Catherine Pooler Background Stamp called Cottage Garden, her Happy script word die, and her Layered Greetings stamp set to create the cards. I pulled out three other dies for my tag from MFT Stamps and Sunny Studio Stamps to complete my creations.
Card 1:
For this card, I masked off a 1″ strip and then stamped the background stamp vertically on a horizontal card front. I colored in the flowers with my Altenew Alcohol Markers, added the birthday sentiment and the happy die cut with 4 layers glued together. I popped it onto a black card base and I love how this turned out!
Card 2:
This card has the card front stamped completely in Catherine Pooler Midnight Black ink and colored in with alcohol markers. I added a layer of vellum with the birthday sentiment heat embossed in black and the 4 layers of happy word die to finish it off. You can even see the white gel pen details that I added to some of the flowers below the vellum. This is my favorite of all 4 of the cards.
Card 3:
This panel was stamped in Versa Mark and heat embossed in white embossing powder. I added a gold panel behind it, a gold word die cut and the sentiment heat embossed in gold. I find this card to be more elegant.
Card 4:
I had to do one wonky card! I stamped two different corners of the background stamp and wonky angles and then colored those in. I added the sentiment in the space and the happy script word die above it.
Tag:
I made this one to show how beautiful this stamp is just done in black and white. I added the Love You die cut which is from MFT Stamps, as is the circle die I used to cut the floral piece with. MFT stamps has my favorite layered stax shapes dies. The tag is from Sunny Studio Stamps circle tag set. I added a piece of ribbon and this can get attached to a gift I send later this summer!
Video Tutorial:
It’s a longer video, but there are 4 cards and a tag here! I hope you enjoy this.
