Gina K Designs By The Sea 2 With Distress Oxide Background Technique

By | 04/16/2018

I think it is fair to say that I can’t get enough of these Distress Oxide inks.  I loved them so much, I actually ordered more colors!

I created some watercolor backgrounds with the Distress Oxides and some Prima watercolor paper that came from a 3 x 6″ pad.  I actually liked the smaller sized paper and the whiter color as well.  I loved using inks to create watercolor backgrounds and these Distress Oxides are no exception!

I actually created the backgrounds yesterday using a card set that I was inspired by on Pinterest designed by Kelly Latevola.  While I didn’t have the same fun ocean set that she had, I did just get the By The Sea and By The Sea 2 stamp sets from Gina K Designs.

I’m working on creating cards with ocean and sea designs that I can donate to my little seaport museum to sell in the gift shop.  I’m trying to keep them simple for clean and simple designs.

I actually created some backgrounds today using the new Distress Oxide inks that just arrived and then I stamped the sea shell on the dried background and fussy cut it out.  I popped it up on foam tape to give it dimension and added some of my favorite Studio Katie Iridescent Bubbles.  I really like this set of stamps and I think that they will make some fantastic cards and card sets for the gift shop.

You can’t see this in the photo, but I added some gold Wink of Stella and then topped it off with Clear sparkle from Spectrum Noir.  It is really pretty in person to see the shell sparkle in the light.

My second card uses the Catherine Pooler Postage Stamp Dies.  Don’t you just love the little stitched detail around the edge of the rectangle?  It gives it a nice finished off look.

I also love this sentiment set from the Gina K By The Sea 2 stamp set.  I really liked that I had choices of what to add as my secondary sentiment here.  There is a nice selection of sentiments along with sea images in this stamp set.

I have more stamped that I will make into cards or scrapbook pages to add to my stash!

I often find it hard to leave a lot of white space on my cards and not add too many details.  I think I controlled myself nicely today!  I have to say that I really found it relaxing playing with the inks and creating the watercolor backgrounds.  I love that every one is different and I love that you can’t really control how it comes out.

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  Have a wonderful day and happy crafting!
