How many layers are too many layers to put on one card? I began wondering that as I was trying to participate in an Operation Write Home sketch challenge! Wow! The card sketch was very specific about layer measurements, which is kind of nice. It was like following a recipe with all the measurements and I got to choose which ingredients to use! (Now you know why I’m not much of a cook!)
I decided it would be appropriate to make a red, white, blue and sparkle card! I just got the Embellished Events stamp set and there it was sitting on my desk right next to the white craft ink and the iridescent embossing powder. Who could resist? Up close, that cake sparkles!

I find that if I’m lacking inspiration, a sketch challenge is a great starting point. The Operation Write Home sketches are very detailed and they provide measurements. This allows you to focus on the colors, stamps and techniques you want to focus on without having to think about how the layout should look or without needing to fuss with measurements!
