Is it a pop up card, or home décor?

It’s both!

Scrappy Tails Crafts has several pop up card die sets that you can create with an keep for yourself as a season decor project, or you can flatten it and send it in an A7 envelope as a card or gift for someone else!

I’m using the Scrappy Tails Crafts Basket Pop Up Die Card set along with the Assorted Leaves Dies and the Essential Spring Die set to create a project that I’m keeping for myself and placing on a table in my living room for a lovely spring decoration!

It is a pop up card or a home décor project?

How pretty is this little basket in brown with the pastel eggs and butterflies?  I love all the extra greenery provided by the Assorted Leaves dies in this little basket as well.

Amazingly, it folds flat to fit in an A7 envelope.  The finished size of the basket is 5 x 7″.

I spent a little time die cutting my pieces, then turned on the TV and had a pleasant couple of hours assembling my basket.  I’m sure the second time I create one will be quicker now that I know how it goes together.

I’m thinking that I will make one for Valentine’s Day and maybe even St. Patrick’s Day as well.  I really enjoyed creating it.

Here is a video tutorial to show you how this goes together:

As you can see, I have mine stuffed full.  You don’t need to have this much packed in there, but I had it all cut and I do love filled up spaces.

It is a pop up card or a home décor project?

I actually had lots of die cuts left over for use on another project.  They went in the cup on my desk for when I need a project in a hurry.

I used a 100 lb cardstock for the basket and 65 lb cardstock for the bits that I attached inside.  I used acetate sticks for the pieces that I wanted to be taller than the stuff attached directly to the inside front of the basket or on the bridge pieces that attach to the inside to hold the decorative pieces that you add.

Kim this basket is so cute! I am still behind on following your posts but I have to tell you again that your coloring and art you do on the digital images is beautiful. It shows how practice helps you to perfect a skill. I am looking forward to my time in my life to do these kind of crafts. Until then I enjoy my baby steps. I have my eye on the Waffle flower mixed media mat. Not sure if you have one or not. If so what are your thoughts on mini v regular size. I am getting into stencils and thought the mat would be helpful.
Stay well my friend. Happy crafting.

Thank you so much, Anita! It’s funny because my post today was a traveler’s notebook page I called Skill Check. I decided to create a layout with my 2 favorite cards for the last two months, one with Copics and one with Watercolors. I’ve made more progress than I realized! It is awfully nice to have the time to do this and I’m so busy with my projects that the days fly by. I have never tried the Waffle Flower mat, although I know it has gotten good reviews. I tend to opt for the larger size when I’m doing mixed media because I’m pretty messy. The more of my table that is protected from my creative process, the better! I’ve used the Altenew silicon mat and the Ranger teflon mat most and I like both of those. I think any mat that is easy to clean will be great. That is a nice thing to have in your craft stash and very useful. Be well!!!

Kim I love picking your brain for suggestions and ideas. You are so much more informed than me. Hope you don’t mind. I checked out the Altenew silicone mat. Not only does it look fine for my purpose(I want to get into stenciling) but the price point is great. It is slightly smaller than my black mat that I generally work on so I can just put it on top when I need it. I think what attracted me to the waffle flower one is the raised edge that goes around to hold your card stock. But sometimes the stencil needs to be positioned differently so that would not always be helpful. Secondly the mini one would not fit the slightly larger stencils. So thank you! I am a work in progress.
Have a great weekend. Happy crafting

Hi Anita! I think you will be really happy with the Altenew mat. I have two of them and they are very loved and used all the time! Enjoy!
