Lace Up Watercolor With Embossing Technique

By | 09/08/2018

Once again I am using the fun new Altenew watercolors for a technique to create a card for a class project.

I like this technique for people who are new to watercoloring.  The embossing provides lines to color which helps to prevent colors we don’t want mixing to actually mix!

Sometimes we really do want to color in the lines and this is the technique to help you do that with watercolor paints!

Stamping Imperfection Watercolor Emboss

I was practicing mixing colors…specifically, letting the water do the work to mix the colors.  I was trying to let go of fussing with the paints until they were just so.  You know what I mean!

I was also trying for vibrant colors and lots of colors since I was testing to see how things mixed.

It was fun and quick!  I embossed the image from Altenew’s Lace Up stamp set in Altenew’s Rose Gold embossing powder and then I covered the image with water using a water brush.  From there I tried to drop two colors in each “well” on the image and then let them mix and dry.

I added that wonderful sentiment.  This stamp set has a lot of great sentiments with a variety of fonts.

My final touch was to add some Platinum Jewels from Lucy’s Cards.  I do love a little shine and sparkle on every card!

I have created a video for this technique which I will add as soon as it uploads.

Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful day and I hope that you are feeling inspired by all the watercolor techniques that I am sharing. I’m having a great time learning and playing with the watercolor paints!
