Every time I have to make a sympathy card, I realize that I only have one sympathy set. I have to say, I am heartily sick of that stamp set! I’ve made many beautiful cards with it; it has never failed me. I just needed something different.
I have often made tone-on-tone cards when I need sympathy cards. I always hope for elegance in cards when I’m sending my condolence thoughts and prayers to someone.
The time, I was working with a sketch for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge and I found inspiration in the sketch and in some retiring designer paper.
I elected to make the designer paper the focal point of my card. We have such amazing artists creating our papers at Stampin’ Up! that it always seems a shame to use just a sliver of it or to cover it up with the stamped image and sentiment.
Unfortunately, this paper is no longer available. The black ribbon and the Venetian lace trim are also retiring. We can look forward to some fabulous new designer papers in the catalog that is coming out this month!
I stayed fairly true to the sketch for this week. I eliminated the background, but kept the rest of the sketch intact. I always try to make it my own by changing something about the sketch to work with my interpretation of the sketch.

It’s a great sketch! Why not take the challenge and create a card to participate this week. Click the link above the photos and link your card to the challenge. It’s fun and inspiring to participate in sketch challenges.
