Playing With Alcohol Pearl Inks

By | 06/18/2019

Another fabulous card kit with some new products that I had not planned to try showed up on my doorstep.  What’s a person to do?

I had to play with the kit and the new Tim Holtz Alcohol Pearl Inks.

I had not planned on purchasing them because I already have a hearty collection of alcohol inks and I can throw some mica powder in and get sparkle.  I didn’t want to love another new product.

But I played with them and now I love them!  There are 66 colors in all.  I have 3.  I’m going to control myself this time.

Famous last words, right?!

Here’s the first card that I made with them:

It is fabulously sparkly!

I created the die cut image using two dies:  Simon Says Stamp Peeking Frog and Simon Says Stamp Rounded Corner Rectangles.

I will do a separate video on that die cutting technique.  It’s a partial die cutting technique and I love how it turned out.

The script hello is a 2 layer die also from Simon Says Stamp.  It’s one of my favorites!

The second card I made used all 3 of the alcohol pearl colors:

This image is from Altenew Dearest Friend stamp set, as is the small sentiment.  The thank you die is from Concord & 9th.  The card base is the Cotton Candy card stock that came in the Simon Says Stamp Kit.

I love these kits every month.  They are $34.99 (and that is with shipping included).  I feel like they are a great value.  I always get card stock, envelopes, patterned paper, a stamp set or two and then some new products to try or new ink pads.

I made two other cards with the kit.  I absolutely loved the Moda Scraps 6×6″ paper that came with the kit.  It also had a large set of stamps with lots of images and sentiments.

My first card uses this week’s Atlantic Hearts Sketch as my layout inspiration:

For the focal image, I used my Zig Real Brush Markers in Carmine Red, Light Carmine, Mustard, and Yellow.  I heat embossed it in gold embossing powder.  The Hello sentiment is just the top die cut from the SSS Script Hello. I added some pretty pink pearls and gems from a past kit, some white gouache splatters, and the Carta Bella washi tape that came in the kit.

I also created a card a couple of days ago:

This was for last week’s sketch challenge and you can see the details HERE.
