Proud Mama

By | 05/10/2019

I’m hoping you indulge me for a minute!  This is not my typical card or technique share.

I’m bragging!

We are so proud that our daughter successfully completed her doctoral thesis defense today and she is officially Dr. Katie Skinner! (Well, Katherine actually.  To us she will always be Katie.)

She now has her Doctorate of Robotics from the University of Michigan and we could not be prouder of her.  I kept bursting into tears today I was just so overwhelmed with pride and awe in the woman she is!

Here is a short video made by the University of Michigan where Katie is explaining her research and what she hopes to contribute to society with her work in the future.

Katie was valedictorian of her high school class and went on to Princeton University where she graduated with honors and a dual major in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and a Computer Programming minor.  She has been at the University of Michigan for the last 5 years where she received a Master’s in Robotics and now her PhD.

Hard work really does pay off.  I have no doubt that she will continue to inspire the next generation of kids in science and engineering.  She has accepted a position as an Assistant Professor of Robotics at the University of Michigan!

Thank you for indulging me!
