The theme of today’s blog hop is to Scraplift your favorite layout!  I love CASEing other crafters work.  It’s such a great way to get ideas and inspiration while honoring the work you admired from another crafter.

I’m scraplifting a project shared on Facebook by Dorothy Guinan:

Scrapbooking Global October Blog Hop

I loved the way she added three patterns on this double page layout with lots of coordinating stamped and die cut elements.  I found those strips of patterned paper to be very appealing along the edges of the layouts.  She used a coordinating pattern below her photos.  It was a simple design, and I enjoyed putting my own twist on it!

Here is my take:

I used the new Halloween Memories Scrapbook Workshop from Stampin’ Up!  I am totally loving the new scrapbook workshop kits from Stampin’ Up!

You can see that I modified the sizes of the paper strips.  The stripes felt bolder and more overwhelming than Dorothy’s gingham check paper, so I toned them down by using a 2 x 12″ strip.  My “hero paper”, which is the stack of books, is actually a little wider than her fish paper as well.  I wanted that entire stack so this is 3 x 12″.  I added a 1/2 x 12″ piece of Pumpkin Pie between the two patterns.  I loved that detail on the layout that I cased.

I thought the orange card stock also nicely balanced out the bold Granny Apple Green patterned paper that I wanted to use under the photos.

I used my 2-3/8″ Circle Punch to create an element to anchor the bats and stars.  They blended in with the background and needed something to rest on to get them to pop on the layout.

I added a little stamping with the Halloween Memories stamp set and the splatter stamp from the Textured Floral set.  These got stamped in Gray Granite ink.

Added some stitched detail with my black Stampin’ Write markers.

The sticker sheet was so nice to have in this kit! I created my title with two of the stickers.  The bats and stars came from the sticker sheet as well.  I love that they include a couple of Date stickers and some sentiment strips.  I added the orange one next to my photo to pull that color across my photo from the left side of the page.  Some old Pumpkin Pie enamel dots from Stampin’ Up! days gone by completed my layout.

The second page of my layout uses the same paper layout, but the mirror image.  I used a 2″ and a 1-3/4″ circle punch for the Pool Party paper on this side.  I also pulled out an old tag punch and a Pumpkin Pie scrap to create a tag that looks a bit headstone-esque.

I stamped one of the title stamps from the Halloween Memories stamp set in Pumpkin Pie at the bottom to balance the weight of the title at the top of the left page.  More stamping, sentiment strips, bats, stars and enamel dots completed the page.

I love how simple this was to complete.  I also love that I used 3 patterns on the sheet and they are perfect together.

Plus…who doesn’t love to stamp on their scrapbook layouts! It’s like the best of both worlds when you stamp in your scrapbook!

Fantastic and you’re right that the orange strip really balanced the book paper perfectly. And the large granny apple green. Great spread.

What a lovely scrap lift of Dorothy’s layout. I think you did a great job balancing out the various coloured strips for a wonderful result.
