Stepping Out Of My Comfort Zone: Mixed Media Journal

By | 03/04/2021

There is a new challenge on the Scrapping 4 Fun Challenge site and it is a stitching challenge!  Your project needs to include stitching!

It is still an Anything Goes challenge, so you can make any kind of project, but there should be some stitching on it.

Our sponsor for this week is Oddball Art Stamps and the image I am using is called Big Eyed Girl Clara in Love Image 128.

I got to select the smiling or the pouting girl, so of course I picked the smiling one!

I had SOOO much fun creating this project!

I cracked open a new Canvo journal from Catherine Pooler and created an art journal page.

I ink blended with distress oxides, stenciled with my STAMPlorations bubble stencil, stamped with at least  5 stamps, spritzed with water, added ink splatter in several colors, stamped some sentiments, colored a digital image with Copic markers, die cut with a TLC Designs oval scalloped die, added some tulle and gold thread, and stitched around the edge of my page with my sewing machine.  I also added some Nuvo drops for fun!

This was such a sweet digital stamp to color.  I am enjoying using spring colors as you can see from my entire page.  I have some fun stamps that work great on a layout like this and I have been anxious to try that stencil I love so much from STAMPlorations!

I added some fabulous sentiments that will make me happy every time I look at this page.  I also love the fiber details that I added just for fun.  I think the soft violet and blue tulle gathered together is an interesting touch.

I’m so happy that I decided to die cut my image out with the Aviary Oval die because that delicate, lacey scallop was just the finishing touch that I was looking for.  Mixed media journal page with digital stamp and stitching

What a relaxing day it was adding layer upon layer to see what I could come up with next!  I also know that my art journal should reflect my mood and there are no mistakes in an art journal!
