The new Challenge YOUrself Scrapbook Challenge is a theme challenge this month! You need to make a layout about YOU!
I decided that any layout that I create about myself needs to include a mixed media background. I consider myself a mixed media artist even though I don’t share all those projects here or on YouTube. I’ve been working on those skills and taking lots of classes with experts in the field. I love this whole virtual thing! It’s leading to great opportunities!
I used all of my favorite things on this background in nice spring colors! I used distress oxides in Mowed Lawn, Worn Lipstick, Scattered Straw, Chipped Sapphire to add a little moody feel, and Walnut Stain for some darker contrast.
I used the MFT Romantic Script background stamp, Altenew’s Pattern Play and Watercolor Dots backgrounds, STAMPlorations bubbles stencil and Sassy & Crafty’s Futter by Butterfly stamp set. I also added some fun details with one of the Carabelle’s Artstamp.
My layout base uses Vicki Boutin’s Mixed Media 12 x 12″ paper, but he smaller papers and the fussy cut butterflies came from the Simple Stories Simple Vintage Cottage Fields papers. My other embellishments are from Dear Lizzy’s She’s Magic set.
I added some scraps and a fussy cut butterfly to the top left corner of the page. I love adding that little corner detail to my layouts. Here you can also see the title I added. I wanted a little gold on the layout because I always love a metallic detail on cards and layouts. Then I used a foam alpha set with a fun font for the me. I’m a comic sans fan. Please don’t hate me for loving the rounded letters!
I know that my background is busy, but I love all the layers with the mixed media. I kept my embellishments to a minimum, for me anyway. I just wanted something bright and happy and busy. That’s how I feel with my life right now!
We would love to have you join us for the scrapbook layout challenge this month. You just need to make sure YOU are in the photo!
