The Craft Off: Using the Artisan Embellishments from Stampin’ Up!

By | 01/30/2013

This week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge gave me the opportunity to use some of the embellishments in the Stampin’ Up! Spring Mini Catalog’s Artisan Elements Kit!  I originally purchased two of the kits thinking that I had no idea what to do with it.  I thought that my daughter, who is 21 and very creative, might have some good ideas.  I challenged her to a “craft off.”  One kit for her and one for me.

Well Katie, here’s my second entry.  (My first was the Valentine’s Day gift bag I made from an envelope.  You can check it out here.)  I can’t wait to see what she comes up with!

lovenoteresist1Notice the background of the card.  The mat is made with the same resist technique I’ve used on two other cards this week.  This one used Island Indigo ink.  Make sure you are subscribed to my mailing list.  On Sunday, I will send out my weekly newsletter with instructions on how to do this technique!

The lace, buttons, and the Love ticket are all from the Artisan Embellishment Kit (#129328) in the Spring Mini. I was surprised by how many different embellishment elements were included in this kit!  I also used the Natural Cotton Ribbon (#127844) from the Spring Mini to back the ribbon.  I still have more goodies left to use!

I used the Tombow clear glue to attach the lace and I noticed some of the sponged ink bled from the paper to the lace.  I would use a glue stick next time.  I do think that this lace would actually dye nicely by soaking it in water with a few drops of ink from a re-inker bottle.  I will try this with the rest of the lace and let you know how it works!!!

The sentiment is from the Seasonal Sayings stamp set (#128009).  It is stamped in Real Red on Very Vanilla card stock and it is edged with a border edge punch.

Here is the Paper Craft Crew Sketch I used to create the cards.  I just love being part of the Design Team!  I get a sneak peak at all the cards created by the other designers!  I encourage you to participate in the challenge this week.  The sketch is a great one!
