Once a month, it’s a good idea to start your crafty session by pulling out your folder of patterned paper scraps. The more I work on using up that pile, the less of a mess I have in front of me!
I’ve been storing my 6 x 6″ DSP paper scraps and some bits of coordinating card stock scraps in a 6 x 6″ vinyl sleeve from Totally Tiffany. I switched from these Totally Tiffany ones to sleeves from Amazon and a company called Caydo. I started using their 12 x 12″ scrapbook paper storage sleeves a couple of years ago and just realized that they have 6 x 6″ sleeves now too. They are so much more cost effective and just as nice as the Totally Tiffany ones. I’m a huge fan of Totally Tiffany since I used to be on her Blogging Troup and I LOVE her products. She sold her company several years ago to Crafter’s Companion and it has been harder to get them. The Caydo ones cost less and they come in a couple of days from Amazon. Alas, I go where my wallet directs me!
I pulled out some of the green leafy paper pieces and the brown wood grain paper pieces. As soon as I saw them, I remembered the Darling Dinos stamp and die set that I got from Stampin’ Up! I knew that I could make a fun scene card with this stamp set. Those papers would make a perfect ground and a perfect grassy background.
The stamp set has so many stamps that you can use to create simple scenes with. You can see that I added some rocks, some pebbles, footprints, and some grassy patches. I used my Stampin’ Blends to color in the rocks, dinos and balloons. I added a few gel pen details to the dino and the balloons to give it some fun highlights.
I used 3 Sale-A-Bration products on this card: The Happy Labels Pick a Punch, the Toadstool Gardens DSP, and the Purple Adhesive Backed Sequins.
I started by trimming down my DSP scraps to fit a 3-1/4 x 4-3/4″ piece of Old Olive card stock, which was also a scrap. My green DSP was cut to 3 x 3-1/8″ and my brown wood DSP was cut to 2 x 3-1/8″. These pieces left me a nice white border around the outside of my card front.
