Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge Design Team Card

By | 02/04/2019

This is my first design team card for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  I’m really excited to be a part of this design team.

I used some pre-made die cuts for a card a couple of days ago and it was the first time I had done that in years.

I loved the way that card turned out and I really liked this particular set of pre-printed pieces from Pebbles so I used them again for this card:

Stamping Imperfection Pebbles Die Cuts

This was a quick and easy sketch that gave me a chance to use the stitched scallop dies that I have had forever.  They are from Simon Says Stamp and they come in a set of three.  This is the largest scallop in the package.  Don’t you just love that stitched detail?  It adds a little something special.

The paper is the coordinating Pebbles 6 x 6″ patterned paper that came in the Simon Says Stamp kit with the die cuts.

The sentiment is from the February Simon Says Stamp kit that I just got in the mail on Saturday.  This stamp set is called Love Always and it has a lot of fabulous sentiments.  I stamped this one directly on to the patterned paper.  I adore the fluffy script of the sentiment.

And yes… those die cuts sparkle!  Those heart drops are still from the same HAI package that I got in my Sparkle-n-Sprinkle card kit in January.  I think I’ve been using them every single day on at least one card since I got the kit.  I love them.  The colors certainly coordinate with the Pebbles paper and ephemera.

Here is the fabulous sketch that I started with:ahsc_302s

We are also playing along with the Double Trouble Paper Crafting Challenge #21 Flowers (Bzzzzzz) .

This challenge has 3 twists:  Include flowers, anything with wings, and use the Atlantic Hearts Challenge Sketch.

I always love to participate in challenges.  You really do get hooked as soon as you play along with one or two challenges.

I really liked this sketch and the fun twists to go with it!  It was quick and allowed me to create a fairly clean and simple card.  Plus I got to use some new goodies!  I’m always a fan of playing with things in my stash.  Old or new!

One of the reasons that I never liked the cards that I created with premade die cuts was because they always felt flat.

The key to using them is to use the foam tape or foam dots.  Add some dimension and pop some of them up on the foam to layer them together.

Giving a card dimension is very often the key to make it look like a beautifully hand crafted card as opposed to something you would purchase in a store, or something that you just glued together.

Sparkle helps too.

Just sayin’!

Kim, first, welcome to the AH design team – I looks toward to working with you 🙂 Your card is gorgeous – love the sparkle and all the little details that you included like the stitching along the scalloped border. This is terrific and a great example for others to follow for the sketch. I also hope to see you join the other Feb challenge coming up at Double Trouble in 2 weeks time (plus next week’s AH sketch as well). Thanks for linking up with this week’s challenge!

Beautiful card. Great advice using foam adhesive and using up the “stash”. Can’t wait to see more inspiration.
