Challenge Yourself in 2013: Try a Sketch Challenge!

By | 01/09/2013

I absolutely love trying the sketch challenges.  I find myself creating card layouts that I never would have thought of before.  The sketch challenges have really stretched my creativity to a new place!  It just gives you more ideas for making beautiful cards in your bag of tricks when you create a card from a sketch created by someone else!

pccc24This may be the busiest card I’ve ever made!  I’m not sure I would have used an entire piece of Designer Series Paper as my background mat!  I like it.  It really gave me a lot to work with.  I also don’t think to combine horizontal and vertical elements as often as the sketches encourage me to and I’m always happy with the results.

This card is my first official design as a member of the Design Team for the Paper Craft Crew!!!  Here is the original sketch:

For my card, I used the Print Poetry Designer Series Paper (#129312) for the background paper.  The Everything Eleanor stamp set (#124164) was used with the Madison Avenue preview stamp set from Sale-a-bration to create my flower layers stamped in Gumball Green.  I used Pacific Point and Whisper White card stock as well.  I used the Summer Starfruit Ribbon (this is the softest ribbon ever!) for my bow.  The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes (#127802), one of the most useful stamp sets ever created.  It has a sentiment for every occasion you can imagine.  I find myself constantly reaching for it!

My favorite touch of all is the Designer Builder Brad #129329).  I actually just ordered two more packages of these because I love them so much.  I used a large pearl in the center instead of the clear embellishment that comes with the set.  I’m hoping they carry this into the next annual catalog.  They are a really good side to embellish a project.

I encourage you to give this challenge a try.  You have the sketch to start with, all you have to do is choose the papers, the stamps and the embellishments.  You can upload your card on the Paper Craft Crew website by clicking here.  You will become a better card maker and designer when you start trying some of the challenges.  I especially like this challenge because the sketches are beautiful and something I wouldn’t have thought of.  It’s definitely outside my box!

As always…you can shop for these fabulous Stampin’ Up! products online by clicking here!  Just for ordering, I will send you a handmade thank you card that you can add to your card stash for when you need a thank you card to send!!!

Thank you for visiting.  Please stop over at the Paper Craft Crew challenge site as well.  You can vote for last weeks card submissions while you are there.  Browse around.  You’ll be saying…”Huh, I could do that!”  Yes!  You can!  Give the challenge a try.

Happy stamping!
